Karen Apostolina
Level 2 Soundbath Practitioner

Karen’s journey with sound began during her career as a professional ballet dancer. She began studying ballet when she was 8, and at18 was performing with the Oakland Ballet and later with the Los Angeles Opera Ballet. In 1996, she discovered the healing power of Yoga.

After her son was born in 1997, she went back to school, graduating with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. This led to recording and editing sound for NPR style features, which heightened her sensitivity to sound, but ultimately was too isolating. She missed the physicality of dance and music.

Karen attended a Yoga teacher training in 2012 and has been teaching ever since. Now as a Yoga Alliance 500hr RYT ®, and a Certified Relax and Renew™ Trainer, she pulls from from a spectrum of asana (poses), pranayama (breath work), and relevant Eastern philosophies to teach unique classes aimed at addressing the real world needs of her clients. She also works with Cancer patients and survivors, as well as anyone dealing with stress, giving them tools to relax their nervous system and allow the body to heal.

Karen was introduced to the power of sound baths in 2013 via her friend and colleague Jamie Bechtold (formerly Ford). The very first time she heard the gong, she felt she’d found a powerful tool for personal transformation, relaxation, healing and connection with spirit.

After attending many sound baths and trainings at The Soundbath Center, she began incorporating quartz crystal singing bowls and Planetary Gongs into her classes. She continues to teach “Yoga and Sound” classes, as well as performing in public and private sound bath events. Karen believes the ultimate experience is to just be still and allow the sound waves of these amazing instruments to permeate your soul.
